Bereavement Support
York Bereavement Alliance
Bereavement’ describes how we feel when someone has died. This could be a parent, child, friend, relative or pet and can be a very difficult and emotional event in our lives which most of us will experience.
Through work with organisations across the city the York Bereavement Alliance aims to provide advice, information and support for anyone living in the City of York and help find the best help for you.
They have created an adults bereavement directory for you on Live Well York. You can click on any of the entries and add them to your personalised booklet to save for future use.
There is also a family, children and young people bereavement directory through Raise York – Your Family Hub Network. After you have clicked the link just choose the “bereavement” box and press “search”.
If you can’t find what you need on either bereavement directory, have any questions about the Alliance’s work or feedback on any services please contact them at enquiries@yorkbereavementalliance.org
Or you can call or text them for advice on 07741 734659 ( Monday – Thursday 12-2pm or leave a message and they’ll get back to you)

Sunflower Wellbeing Hub-St Leonards Hospice
If you, or someone you care about, has been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness, they can help.
The Sunflower Wellbeing Hub sessions provide a safe and relaxed environment where you can get advice from our experienced team, meet people who are going through the same experience as you and learn about local support groups specific to your needs.
They will give you the time you need to talk about your problems or concerns, and you don’t need any prior link to St Leonard’s.
Topics we can cover include:
- The impact of diagnosis on yourself, friends, and family members
- Health and wellbeing
- Planning for the future
- Learning more about end-of-life care and the services we offer
We can even create a personal wellbeing programme which is tailored to your needs.
Our support is free, and you do not need a referral or appointment. Just come on in and say hello, refreshments are available.
